If you're looking for a fun way to relieve boredom and stress in between homework assignments or work assignments in your home office, consider making a paper gun that actually shoots. This project can be completed with little more than standard copy paper, a rubber band, tape, and scissors—all items you probably have stored in your desk. Keep reading to learn how you can assemble one of these paper guns yourself.
Part One: Building the Parts
- 1Fold a sheet of paper across the width and crease well.
- 2Position the paper horizontally and make a 1.5-inch fold from the bottom of the paper.
- 3Continue folding the paper up, gradually wrapping it around your original fold, until the entire sheet is wrapped around itself.
- 4Tape around the two ends to enclose it.
- 5Fold it in half as indicated below. This will be the handle of our paper gun.
- 6Make another two of these with a different width, this time a 1 inch fold and a .5 on the other. You should have something like this.
- 7Take the 1.5 inch strip and fold one end vertically towards the center crease, make sure to align the top edge to the center crease as indicated below.
- 8Repeat the step with the other side
- 9Fold it accross as shown.
- 10Cut a small slit (.5 inch in length), this will act as a pocket for the trigger later.
- 11If you open it up you should have something like this.
- 12And your'e done with part one, you should have completed your parts as indicaated below. Next step is to put it all together.
Part Two: Putting it all together
- 1Take the 1 inch strip and insert the open end through the left and right folds of our handle. You should now have a gun.
- 2Make sure both sides are inserted through the folds as indicated below.
- 3Cut a small slit at the back of our gun as shown.
- 4Now insert the .5 strip from the pocket we made earlier and all the way through, the strip should now rest perfectly on the slit that we made at the back
- 5Cut the excess strip as shown.
- 6Take a rubberband and stretch it from the front nozzle to the back of the gun. The rubber band should rest behind the slit and above one corneer of the .5 strip
- 7And this should be our gun mechanism, next step is to make some bullets.
Part Three: Making ninja star bullets
- 1Take a piece of paper and make a triangular fold as indicated below. You can use colored paper for this.
- 2Using the edge of the fold as a guide, cut the rest of the paper.
- 3You should now end up with a square piece of paper.
- 4Make two of these as shown.
- 5Take one piece and fold it in half twice as shown.
- 6Repeat the same with the other, and you should now have two small strips.
- 7fold one strip in half across the center, crease well and unfold.
- 8Now make two triangular folds at each end of the strip as indicated.
- 9Repeat the previous step with the other strip but this time mirror the triangular fold on the other one.
- 10Make another triangular fold as indicated below.
- 11If you've done the previous step correctly you should now have something like this.
- 12Flip the other one on its back as indicated.
- 13Put it on top of the other and and align it as shown.
- 14Now this time insert the outer points of the strips towards the center slit as shown.
- 15Flip it and repeat it on the other side, you should now have a ninja star.
- 16Go ahead and practice, make some more.
Part Four: Reloading and shooting
- 1Now that we have completed all of the parts that we need, its now time to test it out. Take a ninja star and insert it on top of the gun as shown.
- 2Now push the trigger inward, releasing the rubberband from the slit.
- 3The rubberband should catch the ninja star on top shooting it towards the air.
